Divided into three seasons, each season focuses on a key theme: value creation, value capture and strategy as an ongoing process.

Organization logo

The Kruger Bau LiveCase takes place in the context of a fictitious global construction firm facing disruption caused by advances in 3D printing technology. Learners adopt the role of senior executives on an innovation task force charged with developing a strategic response to the challenge of digital transformation. As the story evolves, Learners engage with virtual characters and a variety of multimedia tools help immerse them into the world of Kruger Bau. Divided into three seasons, each season focuses on a key theme: value creation, value capture and strategy as an ongoing process.

These themes are explored in each season by a strategy & innovation coach character, providing Learners with frameworks and examples that they can apply and draw on as they set a strategy for Kruger Bau in a context that is dynamic, evolving and uncertain. Throughout the case, multiple choice questions and characteristics assigned to responses stimulate Learners' engagement. The data generated by these responses, the decisions that they make at the end of each season and the reasoning that they provide for these decisions allow the Educator to review the Learners' comprehension and progress. Designed for undergraduate, MBA and executive Learners, the Kruger Bau LiveCase allows Educators to teach the fundamentals of strategy in a highly engaging and vibrant multi-layered format. It can be taught individually or in teams, in-person or online. It includes a comprehensive Teaching Note, detailed appendices, and a variety of supplemental educator resources. Kruger Bau was authored by James Costantini, Senior Affiliate Professor of Strategy at INSEAD, Peter Zemsky, Professor of Strategy & Innovation at INSEAD, and Antoine Duvauchelle, Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD.
